I’m Patrick McCarthy, founder of A is A Design. I’ve been doing and learning graphic design, web design, and multimedia since the mid-90’s. To see my style, poke around this site, and don’t forget the portfolio section. Or check out some sites I’ve completed recently: Tin Fish Restaurant, Stacey Doyle, Creative Director.

About the name: A is A: Things are what they are. An apple is not an orange. A moose is not a dog. This simple concept, first stated by Aristotle, has been a driving force in my life and work.

Reality, the external world, exists independent of man’s consciousness, independent of any observer’s knowledge, beliefs, feelings, desires or fears. This means that A is A, that facts are facts, that things are what they are—and that the task of man’s consciousness is to perceive reality, not to create or invent it.
